What is a resident agent?
A resident agent is the person or company a corporation or LLC names to receive legal papers and official notices at a street address in the state. Almost every state requires one for every entity formed or registered there.
Which states and territories do you cover?
All 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. One provider keeps a staffed office in each, at one price, so a business registered in several places deals with one agent and one bill.
Why is the price $129 a year?
One flat price in all 50 states plus DC, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with no setup fee and no charge per document. Multi-year and multi-state orders are priced in the order form.
What happens when I am served?
The papers are delivered to our staffed office at the street address named for your agent. Our staff log them, post the scan to your online document room and notify you at once, all on the business day they arrive, so you have the full response period.
Can I be my own resident agent?
In most states yes, if you keep a street address in the state and are there during business hours. Most owners prefer not to be served in front of customers, and a lapse can cost your good standing.
How do I switch my resident agent?
Order online and we prepare the change of agent filing for your state. The state filing fee is listed on each state page.
When does my service start?
Your online document room opens as soon as you order and the agent address is ready for your filing, so service starts the same business day.
How do I reach you?
Call (888) SOS-AGENT, that is (888) 767-2436, during business hours or use the contact form; a reply usually goes out within one business day.
